The Commissioner will be holding a Public Hearing for a Property Tax Increase.
                               NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

The Murray County Commissioner has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 0.80% in unincorporated and 0.73% in incorporated Murray County

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at Murray County Annex, located at 121 N. 4th Ave. in Chatsworth, Georgia on Wednesday August 22, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at the Murray County Annex, located at 121 N. 4th Ave. in Chatsworth, Georgia on Wednesday August 29,2012 at 6:00 p.m.

The tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 5.800 mills in unincorporated and 5.919 mills in incorporated Murray County, an increase of 0.0460 mills unincorporated and an increase of 0.043 mills in incorporated Murray County. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 5.754 mills in unincorporated and no more than 5.876 in incorporated Murray County. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $1.75 in unincorporated and $1.63 in incorporated Murray County and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $1.84 in unincorporated and $1.72 in incorporated Murray County.
